The Summer Belongs to Summrs
Updated: Jul 27, 2021
In December of 2020 on Christmas Day, fans of alternative Hip- Hop were gifted with Playboi Carti's long-awaited second studio album Whole Lotta Red. Clocking in at just over an hour, this 24 track high energy experiment executive produced by Kanye West saw a shift in the influential Carti's production, leaning more towards fast synths and swift industrial drums provided by Philly beat makers Working On Dying. With this new spotlight shining on this style of production, often referred to as "rage" beats, fans of the album quickly scoured the internet trying to find the origins of the sound and who would be next to take it to new heights. Introducing Summrs.
Although unclear on his exact age, He is rumored to be 19-21 years old and based out of Lafayette, Louisiana. He first started gaining traction on Soundcloud in 2018 with tracks like Fatigue and LookUp2 produced by fellow Slay World collective members KanKan, Autumn! aka twinuzis and GxYard. Although he hasn't hit mainstream success, he has seen viral attention on multiple occasions for his music and antics alike. Back in March of 2020, a clip of an OnlyFans model he slept with made rounds on Twitter after the woman named Gaby attempted to break back into where he was staying and caused damage to the home. More recently, Tik Tok content creators have been making dances to his track "just can't" off his latest ep What We Have, bringing Slay World more attention as a whole.
The aforementioned collaborators KanKan and Autumn! have individual success with their own music with most projects featuring a verse from Summrs. All members are receiving industry attention with KanKan and Autumn! getting co-signs from Trippie Redd and Lil Tecca respectively. Meanwhile, Summrs himself secured a deal with Victor Victor Worldwide for an unknown amount and is looking to slay the world with his next project sooner than later. Check out his music on Soundcloud and Spotify.
