PXS EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Artist More.Rico
Updated: Jan 7, 2021
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I'm Maurico Isaiah Rodriguez but I go by More.Rico. I’m 24 from Oakland, California.
Name some of your biggest influences.
My biggest musical influences are Capital Steez, 50 Cent, & Berner.
What are some of your biggest accomplishments thus far in your life?
Being able to put food in my stomach and a roof over my head.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself living outside of America. Making music in other countries with my woman and my family.
What legacy do you want to leave behind?
I want to leave a legacy that’s going to last forever. I want the world to know who really operates on the highest levels, but more importantly, I want to leave behind solutions through my music and even beyond that. It’s not just about the music for me, the music is my tool to fulfill my true purpose which is to help heal people.
Name one artist you dream of working with? (Dead or Alive)
When did you begin pursuing music?
When I was 12. That was when I wrote my first song and that’s when I knew I was actually good enough to do it.
Are you currently working on any projects?
I’m working on about 8 singles right now and they all have music videos for them. After I release one song/video a week for about 3 months, I’ll be releasing my debut EP, The More You Know which will be available on all streaming platforms.
What is your writing process like?
I find a beat or some of my producers might send me some beats and I’ll go through them and pick out the one I like the most at the moment. Then I just let it all come to me. I’m all over the place with my writing process I’m not sure if it’s very teachable. It’s spontaneous.
What can we expect from you in 2021? Are you planning on pursuing anything other than music?
In 2021 I plan on doing things besides music and also within the music. I'm getting the equipment to start producing my own beats and engineering my own vocals so I can bring my music to a place that I’m more comfortable with. I'm also going to be setting my sights on creating custom apparel and tapping into the modeling side of things.
