Orlando Artists Halfofyou & Gabrielknowseverything Release a Perreo Classic With "Yallah"
Updated: Jan 2, 2021
Orlando based artists Halfofyou & Gabrielknowseverything have released an amazing reggaeton banger titled "Yallah." Reggaeton is a genre that has risen in popularity in the past couple of years with Spanish rappers like Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Anuel AA, and such similar acts making it a popular crossover genre. Halfofyou & Gabrielknowseverything have incorporated their cultural background and understanding into their sound giving us an undeniable hit with "Yallah" - "Yallah" means "On God" in Arabic, so every time you sing along to the chorus just know you're claiming it! "We wanted to create something that could pay homage to both of our cultures - Cuban and Palestinian - and still get people around the world moving out on the dance floor. The sound couldn't have come together any better, and it was written in the most organic way possible" the duo expressed. The track "Yallah" is found on Halfofyou's latest project La Introduccion.
The upbeat perreo track (perreo is a term used when the reggaeton track has a faster beat that undeniably makes you want to move your hips!) was inspired by a melody they heard at a hookah lounge; "Yallah was inspired by the melody of Arab music I've heard at hookah lounges. It was fun to make and the hook was actually written in the back of an uber driving around Brooklyn. You find lots of Arab influence in Latin music such as "La Gitana" by Wisin & Yandel. It was the perfect song to mesh cultures" expressed Halfofyou about the inspiration behind the track "Yallah." Halfofyou & Gabrielknowseverything are working on more music to release in 2021, I am thrilled to see what else is in store for these rising stars in the making! There is no denying that with their talent & consistency they are bound to meet the right opportunity to take their music internationally.
